Four picture prep

As I upload these sketches and as I type in the title of this blog post, I start to wonder if you could use only four pictures for all things in session - that is, that's the prep for the night.

The four pictures above would then - for the whole session - all represent:
  • The adventuring party
  • Random encounters
  • Loot
  • Plot hooks
  • Room descriptions
  • NPC personality traits
  • etc
For instance, you need to roll for a random encounter. Roll a 1d4 and either just use that picture as is ("You meet a knight in a never before seen armour; the knight waves at you and greet you all with a monotonous "HELLO EARTHLINGS!"), or rip off the various pieces found in the picture ("You find animal horns and hair - lots of hair").

(Now I need to get back to work. Ta-da)

Cyborg no stranger than milk teeth

It's the future.

Biomechatronics are nothing new. Everyone's got one or several body parts replaced by more or less operational, mechanical, computerized parts. It's nothing new. Nobody cares.

In fact, what if the human body was expected to break down in one way or another? An eye stops functioning, a knee cap dissolves, maybe your nose falls off after sneezing too hard? And the solution to that was to just go to the doctor and have it replaced with biomechatronics; computerized prosthetic implants.

What if it was as expected as loosing your milk teeth? If you meet someone and they tell you they never lost their milk teeth you'd probably raise an eyebrow.

Things I can think of that makes this gameable:
  • Who's paying for these computerized implants that everyone's expected to get?
    • The government? (Hello Sweden)
      • Not top-of-the-line implants, but "good enough"
    • Private practice?
      • Lots of options, for every price category
        • "You could get it cheaper if you accept this harmless metrics collector from GoodCorp™ to be installed as well - you can definitely trust them!"
  • What's the public view on people that hasn't broken down all that much?
    • Not at all?? Are these considered mutants? Aliens?
  • How much of the human can be replaced?
    • "All we got left of grandpa is his soul. We uploaded it to this BrainPod™ last year, and sold the implants as scrap. It's very convenient, we get to choose when the speakers should be turned on!"

(Let me end this post by saying all this is expected to happen in a GAME CONTEXT, using IMAGINATION. It's all MADE UP. Just to be clear.)

Totemfolk

Have an ugly drawing and some random ideas about this ugly drawing because I'm too tired to write something coherent.

  • Every time you get resurrected, you get another head on top of any head(s) you previously had:

Roll any die. If even, new head is a cyclops.

Roll nearest die. If even, new head has psionic abilities.

Roll furthest die. If even, it's a fish head.

Roll die closest to food. If even, head speaks foreign language.

Roll two dice of different sizes. If both are even, head has a constant cold (sneezes, runny nose, etc.).

Roll die closest to your left hand. If even, new head shares brain with you (knows your thoughts etc.).

Roll die closest to your right hand. If even, new head refuses to wear helmet.

  • Totemfolk are sturdy hillfolks that are often employed as battering rams in times of sieges

  • Totemfolks always speak in sentences containing exactly as many words as they have heads - no more, no less.

  • Totemfolks can transform into missiles and fly to other continents. This is only true if you're currently playing in a somewhat modern campaign that mentions totemfolks and/or missiles.

The Cursed Fighter

Believes she is a wizard, when in fact she's just cursed into believing that.

First round she'll always try to cast a spell (steadying hands, concentrating, whispering arcane words) - and will always fail. After that she'll use normal weapons.

If asked, will blame it on misaligned planets, wandering thoughts, or shoes too tight.
